Criminal activity can occur at any time, even in the aftermath of a hurricane. While citizens attempt to recover and rebuild, scammers are looking for opportunities to exploit people at their most vulnerable. With September being National Preparedness Month, the Pasco Sheriff’s Office is helping our citizens prepare and stay aware by highlighting typical hurricane-related scams that we see this time of year. These types of crimes are not always at the forefront of people’s minds in the chaos after a storm, but by learning about them now, you’ll know the signs to look out for later.
Learn about the different tactics scammers use and preventative measures you can take by visiting News.PascoSheriff.com. While you’re at it, share this information with your friends and family so they can better prepare for this hurricane season, as well.
Stay safe, Pasco!
Electric Motorcycles: What You Should Know
Pasco Sheriff’s Office is seeing an increase in electric motorcycles on sidewalks. These vehicles resemble electric bicycles, but riders may not realize they’re actually riding a motorcycle. These vehicles can reach dangerous speeds, and when driven in an unsafe manner, can impact the safety of the rider and others. Electric motorcycles that do not have pedals are subject to the same rules as traditional motorcycles.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office, along with our community partners, distributed free food to approximately 250 families at our most recent food distribution. These events provide an opportunity to offer necessary resources to those in need, including information about additional community assistance they may not be aware of. Connecting with citizens through positive events like these is truly a pleasure and creates a stronger community.
Thank you to Farm Share, Shady Hills Mission Chapel, Pasco Sheriff’s Charities, the Gentlemen’s Course and the Pasco County NAACP for helping make this event a success. Your support demonstrates the “We Fight As One” spirit.
