October is domestic violence awareness month, a crime the Pasco Sheriff’s Office takes very seriously. We’re committed not only to apprehending offenders but also to supporting victims in finding the help they need. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, know that there are resources available to help you safely navigate out of an abusive situation. This month, PSO highlights on our news site how to develop a safety plan for before and after leaving domestic violence situations.
We encourage our community members to learn more and spread the word to ensure that everyone has access to the support they deserve.
Unlicensed Contractor Operation
Pasco Sheriff’s Office’s Economic Crimes Unit recently conducted an unlicensed contractor operation, resulting in nine arrests. Through the investigation, detectives discovered these individuals did not possess the proper licensing to complete any jobs they quoted. Learn more about these arrests here.
This operation serves as a reminder to be aware of contractor fraud, especially during hurricane season, and to obtain the proper licenses if you plan to perform contracting work.
Unlicensed contracting is a crime per Florida Statute 489.127. Unlicensed contracting is a FELONY during a State of Emergency, punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Pasco Sheriff’s Office’s Forensic Services Unit recently had the pleasure of demonstrating their exceptional forensic science capabilities to a group of students who visited PSO. During the visit, students met forensic investigators, latent print examiners and a Human Remains Detection K9. These members took the time to teach students how to collect fingerprints, use drones for investigations and identify human remains.
PSO appreciates the opportunity to educate students about local law enforcement operations and even inspire them to serve their community in the future.
