During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month this January, Pasco Sheriff’s Office is spreading awareness about how traffickers use technology to recruit, control and exploit victims. The COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we interact and, with it, the way traffickers reach people. Criminals no longer even need to see their victims in person to commit these horrible crimes.
On PSO’s News Site this month, we focus on the role of technologies in human trafficking and how to prevent victimization. Staying aware and rapidly reporting suspicious activities can make a difference. We encourage citizens to learn more and share this information.
Unlicensed Contractor Operation
Pasco Sheriff’s Office’s Economic Crimes Unit recently conducted an unlicensed contractor operation, resulting in 17 arrests. Through the investigation, detectives discovered these individuals did not possess the proper licensing to complete any jobs they quoted. Learn more about these arrests here.
This operation serves as a reminder to be aware of contractor fraud and to obtain the proper licenses if you plan to perform contracting work.
Unlicensed contracting is a crime per Florida Statute 489.127. Unlicensed contracting is a FELONY during a State of Emergency, punishable by up to 5 years in prison.

Pasco Sheriff’s Office members recently had the chance to walk in local holiday parades! It was a pleasure to join the festivities and hand out beads with PSO’s Mounted Posse Unit and Command staff. Community events such as these strengthen ties with those we serve and create a sense of unity. PSO is grateful to our Pasco County citizens for their support!
Shotgun Shootout
Pasco Sheriff’s Charities is set to host our next Shotgun Shootout event on May 16, 2026. Join us for a morning of clay shooting, great food and raising funds for local causes.
