R.B. Stewart Middle School was briefly on controlled campus status out of an abundance of caution after an unsubstantiated rumor began circulating on campus. A student overheard a discussion about a previously resolved incident that occurred at another Pasco County school and misinterpreted it as a possible active situation at R.B. Stewart Middle School. After a thorough investigation, the rumor was determined to be unfounded, and there was never a threat to R.B. Stewart Middle School. Normal operations have resumed, and an increased law enforcement presence will remain on campus through dismissal as a precautionary measure.
