PSO Volunteers Give Back
National Volunteer Month
Protecting Pasco County is a community effort, and no one knows that better than the Pasco Sheriff’s Office volunteers who diligently and selflessly give their time to help others. April is National Volunteer Month, and each year, we like to recognize our volunteers who answered the call to serve.
PSO’s volunteer program is filled with hard-working individuals who use their unique skills, knowledge, and experiences to give back to the community they live in. Volunteers often assist with tasks that do not require law enforcement action, freeing up deputies to focus on calls for service that do. Representing the agency with integrity and a positive attitude, these members help us to strengthen connections and communication with those we serve. With several units comprised primarily of volunteers, PSO is proud to offer a range of volunteer opportunities. Citizen Service Unit
After completing their training from PSO, CSU volunteers assist patrol deputies with non-emergency calls that do not require law enforcement or regulatory authority. These calls can include traffic control, parking enforcement, community patrols, and search assistance, among other important duties. Their support allows deputies to concentrate on more critical calls for service.

Chaplains
PSO volunteer chaplains provide valuable guidance and counsel to agency members and their immediate families. These community faith leaders possess law enforcement chaplain credentials through the International Conference of Police Chaplains and serve people of all faiths; never imposing a specific belief on others.

Mounted Posse
In addition to being a friendly face in our community, the Mounted Posse conducts proactive neighborhood patrols to connect with those we serve and deter crimes of opportunity at local venues, such as malls or the Pasco County Fair. They also stand ready to assist with search-and-rescue missions where traditional vehicles may not be a viable option.

Community Response Unit
Natural disasters, including hurricanes, are an unfortunate reality of living in Florida. The Community Response Unit provides relief through a variety of skills, experience, and equipment following such events, helping our community get back on its feet even faster.

Explorer Post 916
An opportunity for those ages 14-20 to learn about law enforcement and give back to their community. PSO Explorers volunteer regularly at events, including fairs, athletic events, festivals, PSO charity events, and other service projects. Through volunteering, they engage with the community and develop an appreciation for civic responsibility.
In addition to dedicated volunteer units, we are proud to have individuals who support our mission through clerical duties across the agency. Anyone with a passion for making a difference can take the first step towards volunteering for PSO by completing a volunteer application at JoinPSO.com!
