Pasco Sheriff's Office Employees Support Our Troops

Pasco Sheriff Bob White recently accepted an American flag from the organizer of a local U.S. military support group that sends troops numerous commissary items to make their lives easier.

Since May 2007, a number of PSO employees have voluntarily provided an automatic deduction from their bi-weekly paycheck to help fund the postage of packages sent to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan by this group. That amount recently surpassed the $2,800 mark and continues to grow.

For years, Our Troops Online creator, Bob Williams, has coordinated the collection and shipment of various food items, DVD players, microwaves, cigars, cutlery, coffee makers, and other wish list requests to troops deployed overseas to make their life easier. He is currently sending about 250 boxes per week overseas. Each box weighs about 68 pounds, and the postage adds up quickly.
